  • Basic Functions & Responsibilities

    This position provides instructional aide support to Truck Driving program, Decision Driving and Partnership programs.



    Essential Job Functions/Secondary Job Functions

    Essential Job Functions

    1. Monitor and instruct students in the Truck Driving, WDDC and Partnership Programs.
    2. Schedule and administer student road evaluations.
    3. Train and develop students with little or no experience in pre/post trip inspections, shifting, coupling/uncoupling trailers, driving the semi, and other hands-on activities involving the vehicle.
    4. Determine the student’s ability to safely operate commercial motor vehicles on the driving ranges and on public roadways, monitor their progress, and provide feedback to the students.
    5. Participate as an active team member in Truck Driving, WDDC, and Partnership programs.
    6. Provide instruction in emergency driving and skid control techniques as required by the Decision
    7. Driving workshop curriculum.
    8. Serve as a liaison with the Diesel and Automotive Departments to ensure all equipment is operational for Truck Driving, WDDC, and Partnership programs.
    9. Meet all aspects of properly maintaining the Truck Driving and WDDC driving facility and ranges.
    10. Administer Third Party road tests as a Commercial Driver’s License Examiner.
    11. Monitor truck driving safety bay to ensure proper usage and cleanliness of facility, parking of units, organization and inventory of items and ensure all program equipment is stored properly.
    12. Direct student activity to ensure that the instructional equipment and bay area are kept clean.

    Secondary Job Functions

    1. Snow removal during winter months.
    2. Painting of traffic lines on Truck Driving/WDDC driving ranges.


    Qualifications, Training and Experience


    1. Technical Diploma or Associate Degree in Transportation, AND          
    2. Three years of related experience, OR          
    3. An equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience.
    4. Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License. 
    5. Ability to stand for long periods of time.

    6. Ability to frequently bend, climb, kneel, reach and stoop.   

    7. Ability to sustain inclement weather conditions with exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
