  • Basic Functions & Responsibilities

    This position performs a variety of duties related customer service, design for digital printing, and administrative functions for the department.

    Essential Job Functions

     

    1. Function as a customer service representative for Printing Services. Work with customers to assess their needs and provide options for fulfilling them. Keep all department members informed of any relevant details and make appropriate referrals within the department or the College when necessary.
    2. Coordinate the fulfillment of non-enrollment, print-related design projects. Serve as the initial customer contact for design assistance to all College departments. Perform advanced job set up and document formatting including modifying layouts and creating impositions.
    3. Create, edit, and proofread open educational resource (OER) manuals as requested by instructors, using College-designated software. Prepare manuals for electronic and print distribution.
    4. Review all incoming print orders to ensure that needed supplies are available and that the job is completed prior to the requested due date. Check customer files or originals for completeness and specification accuracy before producing the job (fonts, image resolution and registration). Indicate appropriate special instructions or requirements on work orders and communicate necessary information to designated department staff.
    5. Ensure print quality by checking all finished work to ensure all components of the job are completed and quality standards are met; correct errors and re-run jobs as necessary. Check document quality before, during and after each production run of job. If required, unique customer quality specifications are agreed upon, documented and checked against.
    6. Prepare monthly chargeback information and work with Accounts Receivable to ensure accuracy.

    Secondary Job Functions

     

    1. Provide back up and assistance for the printing and finishing of department projects when needed.
    2. Maintain accurate records and files. Follow Printing Services’ established processes for saving files.
    3. Perform general housekeeping to keep areas clean and safe.
    4. Actively participate in team meetings to provide input and feedback regarding department initiatives and processes.
    5. Receive and inspect incoming shipments.
    6. Cross train current and future employees in all aspects of Printing Services, as assigned.

    Qualifications, Training and Experience

     

    1. Associate Degree in Graphic Design, Printing Technologies or related area, AND
    2. Two years experience in a Graphic Design field, OR
    3. An equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience.
    4. Advanced technical skills in Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Acrobat Professional, and MS Office is required.
