  • Basic Functions & Responsibilities

    This position provides leadership and direction for all activities designed to prepare and position students for gainful employment upon completion of FVTC credentials, and to supply well-qualified candidates to employers. Includes setting the direction for proactive interfacing with employers, ongoing identification and articulation of workplace needs, early interventions for students to prepare for job searches, orchestrating networking opportunities, and student development. Provide opportunities for seamless and creative engagement of employers that results in jobs being filled with high quality candidates.

    Essential Job Functions

     

    1. Manage all aspects of Employment Connections including supervision, development, coaching, and evaluation of staff, workflow efficiencies, annual operating budget, and clear direction regarding the services to employers, instructors, and students.
    2. Provide direction for internal and external positioning and branding of the department to ensure that Employment Connections is front of mind for instructors, students, and employers.
    3. Assist and/or coordinate with instructional divisions to develop and host employment opportunities and activities for students and staff (job fairs, employability skill seminars, career days, etc.).
    4. Maintain positive employer relationships in collaboration with Business and Industry Services and the instructional divisions at the college.
    5. In collaboration with instructional programs and other college activities, identify ways to effectively prepare and position students for employment upon program completion.
    6. Provide opportunities for the development of student awareness, career-mindedness, and professionalism appropriate to individual program areas.
    7. In collaboration with the college marketing team, develop a marketing plan for internal and external promotion of services available for students and employers.
    8. Analyze job opening data from Wisconsin TechConnect, as well as other regional job databases, to identify trends and opportunities, to include an understanding of high demand jobs and skill requirements, as well as implications for practice at the college.
    9. Provide exceptional customer service on behalf of the Employment Connections department to all external and internal customers. Assist with connecting students to appropriate services in any of the student service or instructional areas.
    10. Coordinate and serve as a resource to the instructional programs as relates to development, implementation, and continuance of work experience (internships, cooperative education, field experience, occupational experience) programs at Fox Valley Technical College.
    11. Coordinate and serve as the single point of contact for requests under the College Graduate Retraining policy (within Guarantees for Education Programming College policy).  

    Secondary Job Functions 

    1. Assist with instructional work experience programs as they relate to employer development, work station selection, curriculum development, classroom instructional materials, student evaluation, staff professional development, reporting requirements, and other professional activities.
    2. Develop and maintain an effective communication link with business and industry which will integrate and coordinate the effort of other FVTC departments, such as Economic Development, Work Experience Programs, Marketing Services, and the FVTC Foundation.

    Qualifications, Training and Experience

    1. Bachelor Degree in Business, Marketing or related field, AND
    2. Two years of recent, related occupational experience, AND
    3. One year supervisory experience, OR
    4. Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
