  • Basic Functions & Responsibilities

    This position is responsible for the engineering, installation, maintenance, operation, technical support and repair of the College’s Interactive Video Conferencing (IVC) Systems and Internet Protocol (IP) based videoconferencing telecommunications networks which includes interfacing of the telecommunications, audio, video, and network control systems.  Employee will also perform large audio, video and computer equipment set ups and maintenance.

    Essential Job Functions/Secondary Job Functions


    1. Install and maintain hardware and software for IVC classrooms, videoconferencing systems, and other audio/visual equipment throughout the district.
    2. Perform set-up and operation of major video projection and audio-visual set-ups both on campus and at remote venues.
    3. Troubleshoot Smart classroom equipment, conference room equipment and other college audio visual equipment on the Appleton and Oshkosh campuses and regional centers.
    4. Maintain the daily technical operation and engineering functions of the IVC telecommunications and videoconferencing networks which includes control systems, an Internet Protocol (IP) Video Bridge, IP Videoconferencing systems and fiber optic technologies.
    5. Provide wiring diagrams, block diagrams of all IVC and Media systems and maintain files on associated technical literature used in these systems.
    6. Assist in the software development for all IVC control systems and touch panel design.
    7. Assist desktop support with basic troubleshooting of computer issues related to AV classroom systems.
    8. Assist with maintaining the daily technical operation and engineering functions of the distant learning and local classroom systems as well as video conferencing systems.
    9. Research, evaluate and recommend the implementation of new audio-visual technology.
    10. Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.




    1. In-service staff on the use of the equipment and functions in the IVC classroom.
    2. Configure and set-up of hardware and software for computer presentation stations.
    3. Occasional travel to regional campuses is necessary.
    4. Knowledge/understanding of network cabling techniques.
    5. Assist in the research, acquisition, and distribution of capital audio-visual equipment for Instructional Technology Services for the district.
    6. Assist faculty in multimedia classrooms and labs with hardware and software problems.
    7. Assist in the repair and configuration of A/V equipment.


    Qualifications, Training and Experience


    1. Associate Degree in Electronics or related area, AND
    2. Three years practical experience in wiring, installation, programming, design and layout of audio video telecommunications equipment, OR
    3. An equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience.
    4. Valid driver’s license is required.
