  • Basic Functions & Responsibilities

    This position is located at the Appleton Main Campus and is not a remote position.

    The Reporting Services Designer is responsible for developing, testing, and delivering data-driven reporting solutions for multiple areas across the College including Student Records, Finance, Human Resources, and other third-party internal systems.  The Analyst/Developer oversees and participates in all aspects of the development cycle including requirements, design, testing and implementation of new reports as well as enhancement and maintenance of existing projects.  This role also collaborates with the Data Analyst/Developer on new data warehouse tables/fields and performance enhancement.  Business Intelligence tools used to perform the job include Microsoft SQL Server to write T-SQL stored procedures and functions, and Microsoft Visual Studio to create end user reports.  Understanding of a wide-range of business processes across the College and a good working relationship with all areas including other IT departments is essential. 

    Essential Job Functions/Secondary Job Functions


    1. Provide highly developed Transact-SQL skills with the College’s data warehouse and enterprise reporting system.
    2. Possess strong understanding of Business Intelligence, specifically SSRS/BIDS.
    3. Demonstrated high level skills in Visual Studio reporting solutions.
    4. Collaborate with internal customers to analyze user requirements and translate them into high-performance, high value reporting solutions.
    5. Produce accurate, consistent and timely reporting by extracting information from multiple systems, manipulating data and developing user friendly final outputs.
    6. Develop in-depth knowledge of operational processes in the business areas of Student, Finance, and Human Resources.
    7. Possess experience with Data Modeling and Data Warehouse design.
    8. Maintain strong background in Microsoft Office products including SharePoint deployment.
    9. Ensure compliance with FERPA and other federal and State required data policies/best practices.
    10. Possess ability to multi-task and perform duties with moderate to low supervision.

    Qualifications, Training and Experience


    1. Associate Degree in CIS is required (Bachelor’s Degree in MIS preferred), AND,
    2. Minimum of three years of related CIS and/or MIS experience, OR,
    3. Equivalent combination of education and experience.
    4. Advanced skills SQL language and query optimization, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services or other related business intelligence software experience is required.
    5. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are required.
    6. Working knowledge of Windows operating systems, system design and development, (especially data warehouse), and PeopleSoft or equivalent is required.
    7. Knowledge of accounting principles or experience in extracting business information and creating reports is required.
