Basic Functions & Responsibilities

This position is responsible for a range of Human Resource activities related to employee relations in collaboration with the Associate Director of Human Resources, as well as assisting the Director of Compensation and Benefits with the administration of the College benefit programs.  This position is also responsible for ensuring compliance of HR systems and processes.

Essential Job Functions/Secondary Job Functions

  1. In collaboration with the Associate Director of Human Resources, partner with management and staff to establish and maintain positive staff relationships and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation. Incorporate strategies that contribute to a positive and cohesive culture.
  2. Administer, interpret, and provide advice and guidance to management and staff regarding work processes, procedures, policies, and employment law.
  3. Coach, provide guidance, and assist managers on employee relations policies and procedures, and other matters and aspects of human resource management.
  4. Investigate matters of performance and conduct; recommend follow-up action, including coaching, performance improvement and correction plans, and/or disciplinary action, in conjunction with established college policy. Serve as the liaison with union representatives as appropriate.
  5. Assist the Director of Compensation & Benefits with the management of the College benefit programs.
  6. Monitor and manage HR compliance systems and processes, i.e. ACA, Benefits Compliance, Campus Save Act, etc. Design and conduct audit reviews of HR operational processes related to the processes.
  7. Monitor and manage HR processes related to adjunct, associate, student and casual employees.
  8. Participate in the development and implementation of new policies, practices, and processes. Review, monitor, and recommend changes for existing policies, practices, processes and procedures, as applicable.

Qualifications, Training and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field, AND
  2. Four years of recent, related human resource management experience in employee relations and benefits administration, OR  
  3. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
  5. Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification and/or SHRM-CP certification is preferred.
