Basic Functions & Responsibilities

This position assists and collaborates with business and industry partners in identifying learning needs of employees, and designing and creating a learning experience to support standard procedures and processes with measurable results. Additionally, this position works with subject matter experts from a variety of fields and a team of multimedia developers to assist with designing and creating storyboards to support online learning and training modules.

Essential Job Functions 

  1. Assist with training program needs analyses with business and industry partners.
  2. Collaborate with faculty and stakeholders to convert instructor-led training into standalone eLearning courses.
  3. Design and create company-specific training program frameworks and resources.
  4. Ensure training activities and priorities support and align with company-specific goals and strategies.
  5. Collaborate with stakeholders and assist with project plans, milestones and project documentation.
  6. Ensure clear and consistent communication with all stakeholders in carrying out activities.
  7. Approach all initiatives with an innovative mindset for how Learning Innovations offerings can be viewed by stakeholders as more relevant, engaging and value-added.
  8. Assist with analysis and planning sessions in determining project scope and estimates
  9. Work closely with the multimedia development team and technical editors in an Agile Project Management environment.
  10. Leverage branching scenarios, storytelling, interactions, and game-based learning in the design of eLearning content and assessments.

Secondary Job Functions

  1. Research emerging technologies and recommend new strategies, methodologies and usage of tools for supporting faculty, student, and client e-learning needs. Keep current with trends and best practices in instructional design/technology and multimedia development, and serve as functional expert in this area.
  2. Serve as a resource to provide instructional design support and training to FVTC faculty.

Qualifications, Training and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Technical Writing or a related field, AND
  2. Three years of recent, relevant work experience, AND
  3. Demonstrated experience in designing technical training that meets both the needs of customers and the organization, AND
  4. Knowledge of the capabilities and applications of learning management systems and eLearning creation software is desired, OR
  5. An equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience.
