Basic Functions & Responsibilities

This position creates targeted marketing plans for the National Criminal Justice Training Center (NCJTC) and Criminal Justice programs that build off college-wide marketing platforms. Provides consultation, and completes writing and design projects that are reflective of the college and NCJTC marketing plan and brand strategy.

Essential Job Functions

 

  1. Creates and implements integrated design across a variety of media platforms, including print, social and electronic media (e-mail, web pages), display (tradeshow, signage), outdoor (billboard, signage, vehicle), and broadcast.
  2. Leads efforts in the creation of integrated visual identity standards and consistent execution of the standards across various media used by the college and NCJTC.
  3. Produces creative design from a marketing plan or brand position statement, and effectively communicates the reasons for proposed design applications. Integrates text and visual images in a creative, consistent manner.
  4. Coordinates individual efforts with other department staff to best meet NCJTC goals and customer needs, including project quality, consistency with the NTJCT and College brand and project due dates.
  5. Stays current with developments and changes in emerging technologies in design. Acts as an NCJTC-wide resource for visual image best practices.
  6. Serves as primary design liaison with other production staff, customers, and provides photo direction to photographers.
  7. Maintains centralized project files and records in electronic and printed format.
  8. Provides input and support to design projects outsourced to agencies or freelancers.
  9. Prepares electronic files to meet the requirements of outside vendors and for production purposes implements targeted communications utilizing electronic marketing tools and channels, including social media.
  10. Design projects include ads, flyers, postcards, tri-fold brochures, and similar products. Performs quality assurance checks with technical production areas at FVTC and vendors during the production process.
  11. Assists with analyzing and measuring results of marketing communications efforts and implementing changes with future promotions.
  12. Assist in developing efficient procedures and work processes to foster teamwork to accomplish project goals.
  13. Utilizes online and social media channels to support specific marketing initiatives (channels may consist of: blogs, Twitter, Facebook, You Tube, LinkedIn, etc.).
  14. Maintains centralized project files and records in electronic and printed format.

 

Secondary Job Functions

 

  1. Assists with the development of major marketing and public relations campaigns and events.
  2. Research and apply new technologies; train others as needed.
  3. Performs appropriate record keeping duties (including system back-up and file archiving).

Qualifications, Training and Experience

 

  1. Associate Degree graphic design with coursework in the areas of marketing theory and strategy, marketing communications (especially online), promotional strategy, public relations, AND,
  2. Minimum of four years of recent work experience creating targeted marketing pieces, OR
  3. An equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience.
  4. Portfolio of design concepts is required.
  5. Effectively operate Macintosh equipment and possess intermediate skills in advanced design software including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Bridge, Adobe Type Manager, and Adobe Acrobat, MS Word, MS Excel.
  6. Experience with web analytics is a plus.
  7. Intermediate design skills with InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator is highly desirable.

  16. Aptitude or experience measuring results of sales promotion efforts and implementing changes into future promotions.
  17. General marketing knowledge and experience to target communications toward specific market segments.
  18. Effective personal interviewing skills (for testimonial gathering, etc.).
