Position will be posted for a minimum of five days and will remain open until the needs of the position are met
Shift Differential: 
$.54 per hour for the entire shift if 50% or more of the hours worked fall between 3:00 pm and 11:00 pm.

Basic Functions & Responsibilities

The Financial Aid Facilitator will engage students and their families across our district by providing one-on-one and group FAFSA completion support. This position will work closely with various departments throughout the College and various entities throughout the communities.

Essential Job Functions

 

  1. Serve as the main point of contact for our current and prospective students and their families regarding FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) completion.
  2. Provide on and off campus FAFSA completion sessions for students and their families that creates an environment of engagement, encouragement, and realization that their educational goals are attainable. This will include collaboration with other departments across FVTC.
  3. Coordinate and participate in various community outreach events which help our current and future students understand college affordability, types of aid available and the financial aid process.
  4. Provide assistance and information to students, parents, and staff regarding financial aid requirements of various federal, state and institutional financial programs such as grants, loans and work-study and scholarships.
  5. Facilitate individual advising sessions with students and their families to address specific questions or concerns regarding FAFSA completion.
  6. Work with FVTC faculty, staff and outside agencies to inform students of financial assistance and financial literacy opportunities.
  7. Compose, research, and update materials to provide information for our customers, staff and the general public regarding FAFSA access and completion.
  8. Evaluate events, programs and conversion/completion efforts and make recommendations for improvements.

Secondary Job Functions

  1. Contribute to and help develop Student Financial Services initiatives and participate in team decision-making.
  2. Assist with various Student Financial Services activities.

Qualifications, Training and Experience

 

  1. Associate Degree in Marketing, Communications or Accounting or related field, AND
  2. Two years of recent, related work experience which includes office and customer service experience, particularly handing difficult or sensitive situations,
  3. Extensive knowledge of FERPA, College policy, State, and Federal regulations, OR
  4. An equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience.
  5. Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  6. This position will require at least 50% in-district travel to community outreach events.

Special Instructions to Applicants

This is a Limited Term position with an expected duration of 6 months.
