    Fox Valley Technical College is establishing a pool of qualified candidates to teach Construction Management.           

    Essential Job Functions/Secondary Job Functions

    1. Facilitation of Learning. Plan, prepare and deliver instruction and facilitate the learning of students in associate degree, technical diploma, basic education, continuing education, and/or business and industry training programs. Assess the learning outcomes of students at the unit, course, and program level.
    2. Classroom Management. Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate student attendance and grade records, maintain instructional environment with emphasis on safety, housekeeping, and equipment security, and ensure opportunities for student/participant evaluation.
    3. Interpersonal/Team Skills. Participate in activities of the instructional team, including planning, development, scheduling, and budgeting as a cooperative and professional team player.
    4. Student Support and Guidance. Advise and support students as a mentor and role model in the achievement of their learning and career goals.
    5. (If applicable) Curriculum Development. Develop, revise, and continually update curriculum and instructional materials which are competency-based, current, consistent with employer expectations, and aligned with the college policy on level of required documentation.

    Qualifications, Training and Experience

    1. Bachelor’s Degree in related and appropriate field; Master’s Degree preferred. (Based on experience and expertise, an individual with an Associate Degree or equivalent and willingness to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree within specific timeframe may be considered.)
    2. Five years of occupational experience in construction management or in the field of the program or programs being taught, of which at least one year shall be within the last five years. (One year of related occupational experience may be waived with at least two years of post−secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within the last five years.)
    3. Teaching or training experience is desirable.
    4. Ability to plan, organize, and instruct quality education programs, including development of relevant curriculum.
    5. Upon hire, must maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure required by other agencies to maintain individual and program accreditation, if applicable.

    Essential Aptitudes, Skills, Knowledge and Personal Characteristics


    1. Documented experience in managing a wide variety of construction projects. First-hand experience to include multiple aspects of construction management, e.g., estimating, scheduling, supervision, contracts, document control, project management, safety compliance or job costing.
    2. Extensive knowledge of residential, commercial and industrial construction methods, materials and equipment.
    3. Working knowledge of engineering principles, architectural standards and regulatory controls.
    4. Clear vision of construction management curriculum needs.
    5. Highly motivated with a commitment to program success. Willingness and ability to ensure that the program is relevant to the community, addresses current industry standards, meets workforce needs, and has appropriate resources to support high quality student outcomes.
    6. Passion and commitment to construction professionalism as evidenced by participation in continuing education, professional associations and professional relationships within the commercial / industrial building community.
    7. Flexibility in schedule, including availability for evening, night, and weekend assignments.
    8. Willingness to provide training via multiple delivery methods at multiple sites.
    9. Demonstrated ability to work with others in a dynamic team environment. Ability to manage up to 20 students in classroom, lab and work-site settings.
    10. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, staff, management and employers.
    11. An educational philosophy which places the primary emphasis on student learning in the design, delivery and evaluation of courses.
    12. Willingness to accept responsibility for professional and personal growth.
    13. A commitment to the mission, purpose and values of the Construction Management Program and Fox Valley Technical College.
    14. Ability to work with diverse student, staff, and community populations.

    Adjunct instructors are hired on a per course basis. The total hours for an adjunct instructor range from approximately 3 hours per week to no more than 8 hours per week. Hours vary and can include both day and evening classes. Courses are taught in both a general lab setting and a classroom setting.
